Rhea Graham for PWR: Issue 04

CREATIVE DIRECTOR & PHOTOGRAPHER: DANIEL OLUBANJO | STYLIST: TOMIWA OYE | STYLING ASST: MICHAEL CHIBUEZE

"You may not be where you want to be but here's a little antidote to keep you going"

22-year-old fitness blogger and enthusiast shared a few words of wisdoms that have motivated and encouraged her through hard times. Through the hard times she has faced, and her harsh self-critiques, she managed to find ways to celebrate herself and others around her. Rhea’s light and desire to uplift others is inspiring, teaching us that self-love is a form of celebration that we should continually practice.

PWR:

What are the two qualities that you love about yourself?

RG:

"It's vital for me to make people's day. So I love the fact that I am very comfortable in my own womanhood that it is so easy for me to uplift other people"...

PWR:

What does resilience mean to you and can you share an experience where you had to be resilient?

RG:

"Despite all odds, despite what comes against you, despite how many failures or how many times you fall down… You just get back up and keep on going. I feel like I have constantly had to be resilient"... "Battling with my mental health, like what on earth was mental health before going to Uni? Getting to Uni and realising that this is actually a real thing. Especially being from an Afro-Caribbean household where it is not something that is spoken about. It’s seen as an ‘other’ problem, not an in our community problem."...

PWR:

How do you celebrate yourself and how would you like to be celebrated?

RG:

..."Just celebrating who you are, your identity and your impact that you have no matter how small it is, or how small you may feel. Reflection and showing gratitude to how far I’ve come. That’s how I celebrate myself"...

Despite all odds, despite what comes against you, despite how many failures or how many times you fall down… You just get back up and keep on going"
